The Aurora Stingers 1995G T2 dropped a hard fought 2-0 decision to Ajax United as once again the team found itself short handed due to a series of untimely injuries.
The match started with Ajax having the majority of possession, but it was the Stingers who were unlucky not to open the scoring off a free kick midway through the half. A scramble in front of the Ajax goal failed to produce the required decisive touch. Aurora's misfortune was further compounded by conceding a goal with only 5 seconds to go before the end of the first half. Hillary made a valiant attempt to stop the low hard shot, but was unable to prevent it from trickling into the corner of the goal.
The second half began with the Stingers playing with renewed vigour and determination. Both teams demonstrated periods of domination, with Ajax sealing the win with a rather fortunate deflection in front of the Aurora goal with a few minutes to go before the final whistle.
The Stingers have two games remaining in the AISL before they venture outdoors to begin prepartions for the upcoming season.
