The Stingers won their third league game in a row as they squeaked by Whitby 1-0 on Thursday night.
A plucky second half goal by Samantha sealed the victory as the Stingers could consider themselves lucky to pick up all three points. It made up for previous games this season when the girls were unfortunate not to garner well deserved results i.e. Pickering, West Rouge.
Overall, the game lacked any type of consistent ball movement as both teams took turns giving the ball to the opposition. But, what the game lacked in ball possession was more than compensated by each team’s desire to win. In the end the Stingers got the result they needed in their continued quest for promotion. The girls have now played each team once, and will endeavour to prolong their winning streak against Bradford (tied the first time around) on July 10th at St. Andrews.
