The Stingers put in a truly “workmanship” effort in defeating the East Gwillimbury Talons 5-0 in their last league game of the season. Although there was little hope that a victory would result in promotion, the girls gave their opponents very little opportunity to play their way into the match.
The coaching staff were concerned that being the last game of the year, with little to play for, the girls may take the game too lightly. All fears were put to rest as the Stingers raced out to a 3-0 half-time lead before running out 5-0 victors.
The game was rather an emotional one for the Talons as it was to be their last game together as a team (will be disbanded), and though they have had very little success on the field, it appeared - as witnessed by the amount of tears - that the girls were a close-knit bunch.

The victory means the Stingers finished in 3rd place, just one point short of promotion, (remember the hole in the net versus West Rouge). The team will close out the season with their participation in the Richmond Hill Tournament (September 12-14).
