The first game of the AISL playoff round began this past Saturday.  The Stingers’ had ended the preliminary round with 5 wins, a tie and a loss which meant the girls finished in second place in the U14/15 Division.  The Division will now be split into two, with the top four teams – Toronto Eagles, Stingers, Newmarket 94B and the Barrie Spirit B – set to play each other in a round robin format.  The top two teams will then compete for the league championship in a one game final.

The girls’ opening game was against the Newmarket 94B squad.  The two teams tied 1-1 in their earlier league encounter.  This game also failed to produce a winner with both teams unable to find the back of the net (final score 0-0).

The Stingers created more of the goal scoring opportunities, but truth be told, the game was played predominantly between the penalty areas.  Newmarket did however come closest to scoring but Alexis made an incredible double save to keep the game goalless.

The next game will be against the Barrie Spirit on Saturday, March 7^th at the Aurora Dome.
