The Stingers lost just their second game in the AISL, dropping a 2-1 squeaker to the Toronto Eagles (or Vaughan Eagles depending on where one looks). The match was the penultimate game in determining the championship final participants.
The game was played at a frenetic pace throughout, with each team bent on leaving their mark on the match (both figuratively and literally). The Stingers got off to a dream start. Julia scored her second goal of the season on a shot from a far distance out. The Eagles responded a few minutes later, tying the game on a well taken effort to the top corner of the Stingers’ goal.
The second half saw no decline in the pace of the action. Both teams continued to straddle the lines of “legality”. The Eagles did however manage to eke out the victory with a late strike.
The loss meant the girls would not qualify for the final, but rather will play in the match to determine 3rd place. That game will take place at the Aurora Dome on April 4th @ 7:00 p.m.
